Cold baths are mentioned a lot when it comes to weight loss, but aren’t right for everyone. On the other side of the extreme, there are hot (HOT) baths. These are equally beneficial, and typically, more enjoyable. Here are some benefits of hot baths:
Hot baths cause you to sweat, a LOT.
Sweating cleans out your pores, and can help treat acne (wash your face after.)
Sweating reduces water weight, making your weigh-ins more accurate.
Hot baths make you feel more tired, and ready for bed. They are relaxing.
Hot baths can cause you to lose up to 4+ pounds of water weight (bath must be hot enough to cause a lot of sweating to achieve this.)
Your body burns calories trying to cool you down; the same way it tries to warm you up in cold baths.
How to make the perfect bath environment:
It sounds silly to have a how-to on making a bath, but in this case it’s somewhat necessary. Hot baths (for weight loss) can be prepared in less effective ways, and often are. Naturally, this can be due to a number of factors. If one is more comfortable, it’s totally fine to use it. Ignore this guide if you are prone to fainting, or just don’t like being overheated. Here’s my setup:
Bath is filled using only HOT water tap, about ¾ full.
One cup of Epsom salts are added, to increase loss in water weight (salt sucks it out of you.)
Towel placed on the floor of bathroom (you’re gonna want to take breaks from the heat, so climb out and lie on the cool floor whenever you need to.)
Small hand cloth drenched in cold water, to be placed on the back of neck (keeps your head clear, keeps you from dizziness!)
Phone/book near by, for entertainment.
Light candles if you like. I don’t, but some people enjoy this.
General guidelines:
Wait until bath is cool enough that it doesn’t burn your skin. It should be hot enough that you are slightly uncomfortable, but the heat is still bearable.
Do hot baths at night, bc they make you sleepy!
Don’t use more than a cup of Epsom salts, unless you have a large bath. Read instructions on package.
Stay in bath for at least one hour, to achieve maximum results. It isn’t necessary, but useful.
Don’t drink more than a few sips of water while in bath. You want a more accurate weigh in by the time you’re finished.
If you feel dizzy, put cold water cloth on back of neck (if you haven’t already.) if you still feel dizzy after a minute, add cold water to bath. Do NOT stand up until dizziness has passed!
This should go without saying, but if the heat is producing sharp tingles of pain, GTFO. Pink/reddish skin is normal, but pain is not. Be careful.
You’re gonna be sweaty, so wash yourself extra well before you get out.
Start adding cold water to bath about five to ten minutes before you get out.
After you weigh yourself, drink water, and go to sleep.
Afternote
Hot baths aren’t for everyone, so listen to your body. If you’re too uncomfortable, or feel dizzy (even w cold cloth) don’t push yourself! Stay safe!
So much better than cold baths and burn more calories!!! ♥♥
