before you keep scrolling, hear me out. i know that 1200 calories seems WAAAY too much for most people with eating disorders, but if you have a problem with binging, this is actually one of the best ways to get yourself under control. the diet i follow is simple: you start with 1200 calories, eat that amount every day for a week, and then take 100 calories away, meaning you eat 1100 calories the next week. it still makes you steadily lose weight, and when i followed it i didn’t binge for AGES because my body just got used to eating so little over time.
my last year of high school starts rather soon, and i’ve had more than my fair share of days when i wake up wanting to cry. there aren’t many things you can do when obligations like school force you to get over it as soon as it starts, so here are some tips to make your day better.
1. dress opposite the way you feel.even though sweats might be super tempting, dress up. wear your favorite pair of jeans, or a dress, or your cutest sneakers, even. wear bright colors at least. sweatpants and such will just make you feel even more blah and unfocused throughout the day.
2. moisturize!this might seem like an odd idea, but moisturizing and going into school glowy and soft definitely helps me feel more comfortable and less ugh during the school day. it helps keep me in my home-y comfort zone, if that makes sense.
3. carry something from home.this can be a book (even if you don’t read it), a tube of chapstick, a big waterbottle, etc… i have even gone as far as wrapping myself in a small blanket and walking around like that for the day. if you like this option and don’t feel comfortable wearing it, fold it up and place it in your backpack, just so you know it’s there.
4. plan out your day.even if it’s just making a mental note, tell and remind yourself of the things your going to do and when. this will get rid of any unnecessary stress and pressure. if something unexpected comes up, this will also help you manage your time a little better.
5. eat and drink happy things!pick today to pack a lunch, no matter what your usual routine is. drink plenty of water throughout this day, and eat as many fruits and veggies as you can. fill a reusable water bottle with water, fruit (like lemon or strawberries), and chia seeds! it’s perfect to sip throughout the day for a reboot or just to boost your mood.
6. when you get home, bathe immediately!wash off the day’s dirt. drop everything as soon as you get home, and either jump in the shower or relax in a bath with your favorite soaps and scents and a book. give yourself a break before you have to get back to work.
7. don’t ignore your work.by work, i mean school work. if you’re having a bad day, don’t hesitate to take a break from talking to people or running (low-priority) errands. you don’t want to ignore schoolwork, though, because teachers aren’t the most lenient people in the world, and getting it done will take a lot off of your shoulders. pushing it away will only gain you more bad days.
8. go to bed. get sleep! you want to be refreshed and happy for the next day, even if it’s a weekend. there’s a good chance your bad day began because you didn’t get enough sleep, or because you were ripped out of bed. reward yourself with rest after a long day.
These little chocolate meringue cookies are both easy, and good for satisfying cravings. You can make them with sugar, or sweetener, as well as any flavoring you want! They’re really customizable. I made mine red velvet (but you can’t really tell because I used a really dark cocoa powder lol)
Per cookie: 1.5 calories
Whole batch: 35 calories
Ingredients:
2 egg whites
¼-½ cup sugar or sweetener
½ tablespoon cocoa powder (I used a super dark Dutch Process cocoa, you can also leave out this if you prefer vanilla)
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 250F
Begin to whip egg whites in a bowl, adding in vanilla extract and salt when the eggs begin to get frothy
Once egg whites stiffen up slightly, add your sweetener. Add according to your preference. (I used about ¼ cup because I prefer darker chocolate)
Whip and add in cocoa powder
Stop when the egg whites form stiff peaks, and you can turn the bowl upside down without the egg white mixture moving
Make small, inch or so wide dollops of the meringue on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. (If you’re extra af like me, use a fancy piping bag and tip uwu)
Place in your oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, before turning off the oven and leaving them in there to cool down with it for at least an hour. Do not open the oven door until the time is up.
Take them out, and bam! You got yourself some nice and crunchy lil boyos for you to enjoy.
I got 24 cookies out of this recipe, and the calories for each will vary depending on how big you make them. I really hope somebody tries this recipe and enjoys it! I know I sure did 🌸
• the carbonation in diet soda (0cal) helps suppress your appetite (but make sure to drink plenty of water, tea, and coffee as well!)
• if you need a snack, eating celery, grapefruit, lemons, limes, apples, lettuce, and broccoli can burn over half the calories they’re worth !!
• some things you can do instead of eating: read an interesting book, go on tumblr, watch a scary movie, take a hot bath, take a nap, learn a new language, reorganize your room, go outside, hang out with a friend or s/o, ride a bike somewhere you’ve never been before, make a bullet journal, watch funny youtube videos, dye your hair, do homework, design a tattoo on your body with sharpie, write a story, etc.
• make a wishlist of skinny clothes you can buy as soon as you lose enough weight – ex. oversized sweaters, thigh high stockings, high waisted shorts/jeans, sundresses, crop tops, a new swimsuit, new bras/bralettes, etc. make sure to look at it daily for motivation !!
• always politely decline food offered to you if you don’t know how many calories it has !! don’t let other people be in control of your weight loss journey !
• make a thinspo lock and home screen !!
• mint suppresses your appetite – whenever you feel hungry, grab a piece of mint gum !! chewing it burns the calories it’s worth as well !
• color can affect your appetite ! eating off darker plates makes you less hungry, and the color blue can do the same thing (you could paint your nails blue or have a blue water bottle with you !)
• wear a rubber band / hair tie on your wrist and snap it whenever you’re hungry so your body associates hunger with that same pain !
• most importantly: be safe. this is not a list of life hacks for someone who wants to develop an eating disorder. this is a list for people who are already trapped inside one and want to lose weight in a safer way. if you need someone to talk to, message me anytime.
**DISCLAIMER: I didn’t create this workout plan. It’s one I’m going to try starting next week. I figured I’d share it since I’ve had a lot of requests for the exercises I’ve been doing and I haven’t responded to them (sorry).**
-put a straw in the glass so you can subconsciously drink it -exercise obviously -if you are new to exercise just start with streching and gradually do more and more -if you dont wanna gain a lot of muscle do only cardio -take vitamins -eat only fruits and veggies if you’re able to -dont drink smoothies, they’ll make you less full then when you’re actually eating + blending takes away some vitamins -if you dont count calories it helps knowing what you put in your body -black coffee -dark chocolate if you are craving something sweet (its actually good for you) -also sugar filled fruit helps the cravings as well -GREEN TEA GREEN TEA GREEN TEA -or any detox tea -white tea helps not to absorb carbs so drink it after a juice cleanse or a water fast -weigh yourself in the morning -don’t weigh yourself too much cause you might become obsessed with it -exercise before you eat that way you wont be losing cals but actual fat -DONT DRINK SODA ITS SO BAD FOR YOU -theres so many unnecessary junk in it -bye carbs, red meat and candy -don’t eat too much salty food -don’t eat the same amount of calories everyday -if you’re able to cut out dairy -if you’ve hit the plateu dairy might be the reason as well -wear tight clothes -drink warm water before and cold water after you eat -find a workout buddy
If you struggle with binging -chew on something like cellery or gum
-you just got junk food and you’re struggling no to eat it? -give it to you siblings -go for a walk, go run, go to friends house -just get out of the house -distract yourself -scroll through your social media -google the bad sides of binging -look at fitspo on my blog -send me a random ask -take care of yourself -brush your teeth, pluck your eyebrows, take a long bath, shave -lay in your bed, play some music and imagine how would your goal body look like -then make a plan how to make it yours -mints make you supress cravings -when you feel a binge coming on, or are already in the middle of one take 2 tsp of raw apple cider vinegar and put it in a shot glass of water and drink it. It literally just stops your cravings
Motivation
-so many cute outfits you’ve always wanted to wear -your eyes literally get bigger as you lose weight -being lifted by a significant other -sitting in someone’s lap and not feeling heavy -everyone being jealous your body -the simplest outfits look good on you -like baggy shirt and leggins -being someone’s goal -your legs look long even if they’re not -CROP TOPS -high wasted jeans and shorts -people whispering about how good you look -cute underwear and pajamas -looking good without putting any effort -beach and pool parties -guys talking about asking you out -getting random compliments from strangers about your figure
